“Looking down at her hand, Melissa stuck out her index and middle fingers, ready to plunge them down her throat.”

Reading this book, made me remember how hard the beginning of high school was. Being new, dying to fit in. You start to judge and doubt yourself when you are surrounded by so many. I'm so tired of girls feeling as if they have to change themselves to fit in or to be beautiful. Body shaming is so very REAL people, and we need to put a stop to it.

I was a little torn about this read, not going to lie. The reason that is, is simply because at times of the story, I felt like the main character herself could have wrote it. (The main character is fourteen years old). I don't know if this series is meant for a younger age than I am, but I wished that things would get a little bit more in depth or dramatic. However, I love what subject the author is portraying. Eating disorders are a huge problem with younger, or even older women. Society- in school, the media, magazines... they all put an image in our head of what we think we have to look like. I have had loved ones suffer from eating disorders and I watched their lives turn upside down because of this horrible disorder. It is a very scary thing to witness. It is important to see warning signs and to know what we can do to help. So, overall I gave this book 3 stars and props to the author for sending a message to the public that needs to be heard.
